Eight local organizations have a lot to smile about on Tuesday, as the Wapakoneta Area Community Foundation awarded their annual grants at the Wapakoneta Eagles on Monday evening.
WACF executive director, Robert Askins, presented the eight groups with their awards at the foundation's annual meeting, and also updated the community on the state of the fund and their progress and activities from the past year.
The Armstrong Air and Space Museum Association and Children's Hometown Holiday received the largest awards, with the Museum receiving $9,500 to purchase 3D scanners and printers, supplementing their upcoming expansion, which will begin construction later this week.
The new equipment, purchased with the grant, will be housed in the new classroom–the focus of the expansion–and will go a long way toward helping the museum grow literally and figuratively.
"We are so excited to be able to purchase these 3D printers and 3D scanner," Brittany Venturella, curator and interim director of the Museum said. "This is a part of realizing our dream of a STEAM education center and it centers on our classroom and the tools in it."
