In a very rare instance at a golf course, the higher the number this weekend, the better, as the Wapakoneta Community Scholarship Fund hopes to wrack up plenty of donations at their annual Golf Outing Fundraiser at the Wapakoneta Country Club on Saturday.
Now in its third year, DeLynn Epperly, who spearheads the event, says the organization, which falls under the umbrella of the Wapakoneta Area Community Foundation, has made plenty of progress since its inception.
"We've seen some slow growth," Epperly said. "We raised about $1,500 the first year and $3,000 the second. This year we hope to get closer to $4,000."
And the prospects of reaching that mark are already looking good, having already filled up all available spots on the course.
"The goal was to have 14 groups," Epperly said. "But we already have 16. And everyone is a part of the community."
