Community volunteers visited some 20 sites Saturday to help their neighbors tackle projects to improve their homes and living spaces.
Servant’s Day, the annual one-day event supported by the Wapakoneta Area Ministerial Association, found volunteers painting, gardening, moving water heaters, replacing floors and flooring and perking up properties across the community.
“I think generally everyone had a good experience,” said Rachel Barber, who helped coordinate the volunteer effort. “I think most everything went well,” although she said a couple of projects needed more extensive repair work than was first generally thought. “There were a couple of discoveries that were unexpected,” she said, noting the volunteers rolled with the punches. Those projects, she said, will be completed as soon as possible.
