9/11 commemorated with residents at The Gardens of Wapakoneta

Following the opening prayer from the Rev. James Fast, Tom Leininger, past VFW District 2 Commander 2016-2017 from Post 5713 Celina, gave the message. Sergeant of Arms William Forsyth was ordered to bring the flag to half mast during the 9/11 commemoration ceremony held Tuesday at the Gardens at Wapakoneta.

September 11, 2001 is a day that most Americans will never forget. In the early morning of September 11, two airplanes struck the World Trade Center in New York City. A third airplane crashed into the Pentagon in Washington D.C. The fourth airplane, destination unknown, was brought down in a field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania by the brave passengers who fought off the hijackers. By the end of it all, 2,996 people were killed in this horrific attack.

Seventeen years later, The Gardens at Wapakoneta was helping the community to Never Forget. A remembrance ceremony was held in the front lawn by the flag pole with a welcome message and...
