Drone technology one of the newest methods of flight

Despite a wave of inclement weather forcing the festivities indoors, there was one aircraft still in the air during Saturday's Festival of Flight at the Armstrong Air and Space Museum.

Camped out at a table in the Modern Space Gallery Treg Raines, of Raines Aerial Photography, and Ben Hilleary, of TSS Studios, both of who use drones to capture footage for their Wapakoneta based-businesses, gave Museum visitors an overview of one of the newest realms of flight and aviation: drones.

Being a newer classification of aircraft, there are a lot of questions still out there about operating a drone.

Raines and Hilleary hoped to provide answers.

"[Today] we're talking about UAV [Unmanned Areial Vehicle] regulations, the skills of flying in the sky, safety, which is the biggest issue with drones," Raines said. "There have been a lot of drone scares that have happened across the nation, and a lot of people don't know everything there is to know about the safety aspects of it and what we have to do as pilots."
