It's all about your place on the food chain

Wapakoneta Elementary school Fifth graders in Mr. Lloyd Sarasin's science class are kicking off the new year with a unit on the food web, and on Thursday, they had an up close look at their first subject of the year.

Contained in a clear, glass bowl, with a few leaves and cherry tomatoes for sustenance, were two tomato worms that Sarasin found in his garden, a perfect tie in to the year's curriculum.

"We're going to start out with, 'what is a producer?'" Sarasin said. "A producer is anything that gets its energy from the sun."
