Organizers pleased with 2018 festival

The 68th Annual St. Joe Festival came to a close on Wednesday night, and the crew of St. Joseph Catholic Church parishioners was out tearing down tents, stages, and booths at the Auglaize County Fairgrounds bright and early on Thursday.

The clean up followed another successful iteration of the long held festival, which serves as a fundraiser for the church's general operating fund.

Bob Kohlreiser, who is the Chair for the St. Joe Festival Set-up Committee, says people came out in droves in spite of the oppressive heat.

"The heat maybe kept the crowd away until the evening," Kohlreiser said, "but we almost had a capacity crowd."

While there was no official attendance number, he said that there was a big crowd both Tuesday and Wednesday night, and maybe even got a boost from the weather on Tuesday night.

"We were fortunate that it didn't rain because it rained all around us," Kohlreiser said. "We were blessed with a little shower on [Tuesday] that cooled things off a little bit."

Any chance of rain held off on Wednesday night, too, meaning...
