Auglaize County seniors gathered at the Auglaize County Council on Aging for a seminar on Medicare.
"It can be really intimidating," David Painter, community liaison for the Ohio Department of Insurance, noted. "It's brand new for them. When you've worked, you've only had one choice for insurance, maybe two if your married. All of a sudden you have 24 drug plan options and more than 30 supplemental plans."
Painter began by explaining how the seniors can reach out for assistance.
"I am a part of the Ohio Senior Health Insurance Information Program (OSHIIP)," he said. "There are 54 programs like this throughout the country. That includes all 50 states and four territories."
