On Friday evening, Melanie Yocum realized a lifelong dream, and with paint still drying on the Auglaize St. window front, Yocum opened her first yoga studio, Lightworker Yoga, to the public for the very first time.
Yocum, who has been a certified yoga teacher since 2007, has been teaching at various spots around Wapakoneta after moving from Florida in 2009, but with Lightworker, gives her a consistent home to teach.
But it took a little courage, the right timing, and some hard work to make that dream a reality.
“I always wanted my own studio, but it’s kind of a scary thing,” Yocum said at Friday night’s open house. “I grew as a person, I had my kids, and I really just decided it was time. It had always been my dream, I just turned 40, and some things happened, and it just fell into the right space.”
“I felt as ready as you can be to do something like this,” she continued, “and I just jumped.”
