It was a day of recognition on Tuesday as the Wapakoneta City School District honored students and faculty alike at their regular meeting at Wapakoneta Middle School.
Lori McKean, the Food Services Supervisor for the district, informed the board that all buildings in the district were awarded the Golden Plate Award.
The Golden Plate Award is given by the Auglaize County Health Department’s Environmental Health Division to all establishments that receive 90 percent or better on their two annual Health Department inspections.
The award serves to recognize that the facility has demonstrated excellent food safety practices throughout the past calendar year.
McKean also informed the board that lunch prices would remain stagnant for the 2018-2019 school year, citing new policy that allows the school to refrain from raising prices.
Nine Middle School students were also recognized by the board for their achievements in and around the classroom.
Fifth graders Karson Lighty, Lilly Elsass, and Ivy Campbell, sixth graders Scott May, Paige Reser, and Audrey Sparks, and seventh graders Chauncey Eddy, Jenna Kohler, and Reagan Courter were all honored by their teachers.
Teachers from each team of classrooms selected students to be recognized for both their behavior towards faculty and effort put forth in their academics.
