LuLu's Diner is coming to Wapakoneta.
The popular breakfast and lunch spot, which already operates out of two locations in Lima and a third in Bluffton, is expanding into Wapakoneta with a new, fourth operation that is tentatively set to open sometime this summer.
Owners Amy and Justin Musil have already made significant progress on the future location of the restaurant, 802 Gardenia Dr., after first visiting the former laundromat in mid-January, and closing the sale just a few days later.
"We've already gutted everything," Amy Musil said. "We're hard workers."
Such hard workers, in fact, that the expansion may have never happened had it not been for that strong work ethic.
The Musils, who have five sons, moved back to Amy's native Lima from their home in Toledo to open the original diner on Spencerville Road, putting it all on the line to make their dream come true.
"Everyone thought I was crazy," Musil said. "We were out of money, scraping by so we could get this diner open. We even upholstered all of the booths ourselves. We went and picked out the vinyl and stapled them all ourselves."
