Visitors to the Riverside Art Center in Wapakoneta on Friday, April 6 will get a look at a different side of art when Carole Elchert, a documentarian and photographer from Findlay, stops by to present on her documentary, "Activismo: Art and Dissidence in Cuba."
The documentary examines performance art in the Caribbean island nation of Cuba and its ability to impact societies and improve human conditions.
While the film will not be screened, Elchert will discuss the filmmaking process and the cultural and political context for Cuban artists.
Elchert, who has taught classes at the University of Findlay, created the film with her husband and University of Bluffton Art Department chair Philip Sugden, in a 2015 trip to Cuba.
