The developer for the proposed Dollar Tree store at 1501 Saturn Drive, went before the Wapakoneta Board of Zoning Appeals Monday evening to explain the project's need for a setback variance.
As the planned building fits on the lot, one corner of it does not meet the B-2 zoning requirement of a 40-foot setback. They only have 14-feet, four inches.
Jim Shipley, of Cocca Development, headquartered in Boardman, explained they are requesting an approximately 26-foot variance.
The board, hearing no objections from neighboring properties, approved the variance.
Shipley said following the meeting that construction is planned to start on April 15, with a completion date of July 15.
Dollar Tree, based in Chesapeake, Va, sells items for $1 or less. The new store would sit just west of the Bob Evans restaurant.
